IELTS / TEF EXAMINATION
The International English Language Test (IELTS) & Test d’Evaluation de Français (TEF) are general English & French language knowledge exams which one has to prepare for in order to be successful in their immigration process to Canada or further studies, the test depends on the country to country as different places have different requirements.
At HOF Migration we provide our clients with complimentary IELTS training from the day they sign up with us (Ms. Lulu) in order to ensure that they meet the minimum eligibility requirement as per the country that you have chosen to immigrate to.
Below is an understanding of what the IELTS and TEF exams really are and their structure.
IELTS TEST
IELTS is an English exam that assesses your knowledge of English, generally for immigration processes – immigrants have to attempt an IELTS GENERAL TEST and university students have to attempt an IELTS ACADEMIC TEST. There are 4 parts to the test and their structure for both the IELTS general and academic are given below.
Listening - Test structure (30 minutes)
In this section, Candidates will listen to four recordings of native English speakers and then write their answers to a series of questions
Reading - Test structure (60 minutes)
This module consists of 40 questions, designed to test a variety of reading skills.
Writing - Test structure (60 minutes)
In this part of the test, there are two Writing tasks to complete.
Speaking - Test structure (12 - 15 minutes)
The Speaking test consists of an oral interview between the test takers’ and an examiner. This module assesses your use of spoken English.
TEF TEST
TEF is a French exam which assesses your knowledge of French, this is an optional examination which is generally for immigration processes to Canada but is a mandatory examination for Quebec immigration processes. There are 4 parts to the test and their structure is given below
Oral comprehension – Test structure (40 minutes)
In this part of the test, candidates have to listen to a recording of 40 minutes and then answer a series of questions.
Written comprehension – Test structure (60 minutes)
In this part of the test, candidates answer a series of MCQ based questions where they will read a comprehension and answer accordingly.
Oral expression - Test structure (15 minutes)
In this test, an interview is conducted with an examiner from TEF which lasts for 15 minutes where they evaluate your ability to speak in French.
Written expression - Test structure (60 minutes)
In this part of the test, candidates have to write long texts which last for 60 minutes.
